Google (and all search engines) are constantly altering their algorithms, features, and products in an effort to deliver more relevant and higher-quality results. This is great for consumers, but can leave businesses scrambling.</p><p>This week the world was able to get a glimpse at the <a href="http://maps.google.com/help/maps/helloworld/desktop/preview/">new Google Maps App</a> when it leaked early. As technology mavens drooled, the business community took a deep breath and buckled down to figure out how it will impact their companies.</p><p>The new app is more dynamic and socially driven. The map (and anything you search for or navigate to) will be tailored to each individual user by making travel and destination suggestions. All of this is generated by taking cues from your navigation and search history, as well as your personal reviews and behavior.</p><h2>What Does This Have To Do With Staffing?</h2><p>If a user of the app searches for “Employment Agency in XYZ City,” the app will deliver a list based upon the individual’s unique history, what their friends have recommended on Google+ Local (formally known as Google Places), and results whose company G+ page is well optimized. <b>That means each and every user may have a different search result. </b></p><p><a href="http://www.haleymarketing.com/2013/05/17/staffing-firm-local-seo-social-media/google_map/" rel="attachment wp-att-18799"><img src="http://www.haleymarketing.com/files/2013/05/Google_Map.jpg" alt="Google_Map" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-18799" /></a><p>Obviously you can’t do anything to control an individual’s unique search history or their friends’ Google+ activity, but you can position your company to be considered a viable option by having a well optimized and active G+ company page. If you don’t and your competitor does, you’re going to miss out on potential candidates and clients.</p><p>So, to keep this from happening, here are a few tips to follow:</p><ul><li>Create or claim a page for your business on Google+.</li><li>Optimize the page by including relevant and keyword-rich details in the description.</li><li>Upload company pictures such as a logo, picture of your building, or a few other relevant pictures (remember, keep it professional!).</li><li>Complete all of the details (if possible). This includes contact information, email, web address, hours, and categories.</li><li>Once the page is setup and has been verified by Google, <b>get active</b> and post <b>frequent</b> updates from the page! Consider sharing your company’s blog posts or other company news from the page.</li><li>Request that your clients and candidates leave you reviews or “star” your business (a higher score means you rank higher in results!). As a Project Manager, Heather prides herself in using her stellar project management skills to exceed the needs and expectations of her clients&#8211;both internal and external.</p><p>Additionally, Heather is a proud mom of two beautiful young children, is an avid runner, and enjoys doing sketches.</p><p>Heather had the &#8220;good fortune&#8221; of having her desk right next to mine, and it&#8217;s been a pleasure getting to know her. These tiny pictures that follow you around the internet are called <strong>Avatars</strong>. You probably already have them on your facebook or twitter accounts. Now you can have them for all your WordPress posts, too. To make this easy, WordPress created <a target="_blank" href="http://en.gravatar.com">Gravatar.com</a>. The Gravatar service is fast, easy and free.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.haleymarketing.com/files/2013/05/gravatar.png"><img src="http://www.haleymarketing.com/files/2013/05/gravatar.png" alt="gravatar" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-18689" /></a> <br /><br />First, signup at <a target="_blank" href="http://en.gravatar.com/">http://en.gravatar.com/</a> &#8211; it&#8217;s just your name and email. Make sure you use the email address you also use on your WordPress accounts. If you use more than one, don&#8217;t worry, you can add more email addresses to your Gravatar account later.<br /><br />Second, upload your image.<br /><br />Third, no wait, there is no third step! You&#8217;re done. Within a few minutes your plain, somewhat boring grey silhouette will be replaced by your shiny new picture.<br /><br />While not every WordPress website takes advantage of Gravatars, many do. If you see the grey silhouettes, it&#8217;s likely that they do. If they don&#8217;t, ask them to. 				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<a href="http://www.haleymarketing.com/files/2013/05/92655990.jpg"><img src="http://www.haleymarketing.com/files/2013/05/92655990.jpg" alt="Business Ostrich" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-18737" /></a>When it comes to consistently delivering shareworthy service, knowledge is power.<br /><br />So don&#8217;t stick your head in the sand!  Use these customer service feedback techniques to gather higher quality information that will prevent service issues and identify opportunities for you to raise the bar in customer service for your recruiting or staffing firm:<br /><ul><li><strong>Create a killer feedback survey.</strong>  Sites like <a target="_blank" title="SurveyMonkey" href="http://www.surveymonkey.com/">SurveyMonkey</a> make it easy to great simple, effective surveys your customers will use.  In your survey, ask your most important questions first (in case clients don&#8217;t take the time to complete the entire questionnaire).  Make sure you offer opportunities for open-ended responses, so that your clients aren&#8217;t forced to use rating scales that don&#8217;t fit the feedback they want to provide.</li><li><strong>Ask the right questions.</strong>  Think like a customer when writing your questions, targeting their biggest &#8220;pain points&#8221; in staffing and the service you deliver.  If you&#8217;re unsure where to start, tons of free online resources are available &#8211; including great starter questions you can customize for the needs of your business.</li><li><strong>Actively solicit both positive and negative feedback.</strong>  A well-designed survey should encourage your customers to tell you what you&#8217;re doing right, as well as what you could improve upon.  Make sure you ask questions to help you: identify new business opportunities; uncover service issues of which you may not have been aware; garner content for testimonials and client success stories.</li><li><strong>Put the survey where clients will find it. </strong> Don&#8217;t relegate your survey to a dark corner on your Contact Us page and call it a day.  Include links to the survey on all your primary client materials.  Here are a few suggestions:  brochures, business cards, order forms, invoices.  The more &#8220;at bats&#8221; your survey has, the higher your response rates will be.</li><li><strong>Provide multiple feedback channels.</strong>  Some people prefer not to fill out surveys, so make sure you welcome their feedback in any form that&#8217;s convenient for them &#8211; be it a phone call, an email or a face-to-face chat.  Remember, the best way to gather as much high quality feedback as possible it to <em><strong>make it as easy as possible</strong></em> for customers (satisfied or disgruntled) to express their opinions.</li><li><strong>Train front-line staff to ask for feedback.</strong>  The people who regularly speak to your clients the most should be trained to ask basic satisfaction questions &#8211; daily.  If they uncover potential problems or business opportunities, have them escalate the issue to the appropriate person.  And if they hear a great comment from a satisfied client, train them to ask for permission to use the feedback in your marketing materials!</li><li><strong>Think outside the box. </strong> If these efforts don&#8217;t produce the results you want, consider holding a focus group or surveying clients via telephone.  Proactive measures like these are more expensive, but they may help you gather input from clients you might otherwise never hear from.</li></ul>The lesson here?  Don&#8217;t be a service ostrich!  Get your head out of the sand and find out what your customers think about you.  When you know what your clients are thinking, you are able to fix more problems, retain more clients, win more business and demonstrate your commitment to delivering what your clients truly want.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.haleymarketing.com/?attachment_id=18507" rel="attachment wp-att-18507"><img src="http://www.haleymarketing.com/files/2013/04/CTA-Banner_Websites_03.png" alt="Download our free Website eBook" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-18507" /></a><br /><br /><br /><p>The post <a href="http://www.haleymarketing.com/2013/05/16/customer-feedback-tips-for-staffing-firms/">Don&#8217;t Be a Service Ostrich</a> appeared first on <a href="http://www.haleymarketing.com">Haley Marketing Group</a>.</p>]]></content:encoded>
