Fitness SF – A case study in what not to do

This story is going viral as we speak!  In a nutshell Fitness SF, a Bay Area gym with 4 locations, did not pay their website developer for the work they did.  So, the website developer decided to make an example of them…

Within the first hour of this story breaking there were over 100…”unkind”…comments added to Fitness SF’s Facebook page.

Now of course Haley Marketing would never stoop to these levels 😉 but there are some lessons to be learned here.

The biggest being, you need to know what others are saying about you and your firm.   This was a small design firm in Europe who made a website for a small gym in the Bay Area and look at the results it has caused.

So, you need to take precautions to make sure this doesn’t happen to you.  And we are not just talking about Facebook.  There are a number of other sites that allow users to post reviews about companies, Yelp, Yellow Pages, Google Reviews, Yahoo Reviews and Glassdoor.  Luckily, Google allows companies to set up alerts.  These alerts will notify you when someone mentions your company name on any website that is tracked by Google.

Obviously your first goal is to make sure your customer service is top notch and you are never even in this type of situation.  But as you know there is no controlling the general public.  Make sure you take every precaution necessary.
