The first 100 days was a term applied to the start of the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt and seems to apply to each future president. Whenever starting at a new position (whether it’s as President of the United States or on as a social media marketing advisor here at Haley Marketing Group), the beginning offers a lot of new opportunities.

A new position presents an opportunity for a fresh start. Whether it’s establishing your work ethic, dressing a certain way or displaying a more outgoing personality, that new job can be a great chance to change things you want to transform and re-establish yourself in your career.

With any new position comes some sort of anxiety, simply because it’s an entirely new environment and we are human. No matter how experienced you are, breaking into a new environment can be difficult. One thing is very beneficial here at the Haley Marketing Group – new employees meet with every employee on an individual basis. Those personal meetings are really helpful to learn about responsibilities, culture and other career tips. (And this profile page really helps remembering names!)

If your head isn’t spinning enough after trying to learn about your new colleagues as well as job responsibilities and expectations, transitioning to a new industry kicks it into another gear. When trying to learn about your new industry, there aren’t any shortcuts. Reading as much as you can, watching videos, listening to podcasts, or talking to your co-workers all will help with the transition. Don’t be afraid to dive right in!

As much as we want, it’s not going to happen overnight (or even over the span of your first 100 days). I’ve been at the Haley Marketing Group for just over three months and feel like I’m just scratching the surface on learning about my job as well as the staffing and recruiting industry.

While we aren’t taking over as the President of the United States, the first 100 days of a new job can be a great time for a fresh start. Have a plan and get to work.
