There’s a reason top brands of the past, remain the top brands of the present. They understand the importance of change.

Marketing strategies from 25 or even 5 years ago should not be held to the same standard as those of the present. Top brands continuously use leading social media tools to evaluate what works, and then build off of that to ensure continued growth and success.

While I wasn’t involved in the conversation and can’t say this with 100% certainty, I would argue that YouTube and online video marketing were off of the radar for top brands 10 years ago.

But, we’re not in 2005 anymore, and your marketing efforts need to reflect that.

The top 100 brands [on YouTube] garnered more than 40 billion views total during the past 12 months, and more than 18 billion in the past year. By actively managing their accounts, they not only solidify their positioning as a leading brand, but also continually engage new and existing followers.

While your staffing firm isn’t Disney or Apple, your marketing strategy should still look to incorporate the things that make these brands successful.

5 Reasons to Add Video to Your Marketing

You Have the Content to Share

Think about your typical day and questions that come in to your email. Along with that, think about the resumes you receive day after day. What’s wrong with them? What do you like most about the good ones? When you interview a candidate what are your biggest pet peeves? What do you like most about successful candidates? All of these questions and answers should be turned into blog posts and, for sake of this article, brief videos.

Along with videos that help your audience consider creating videos that showcase company updates. Tell your audience what is happening with your company and make them feel apart of the improvements, changes, or exciting activities.

YouTube Reaches More 18-34 Year-Olds Than Any Cable Network

There has been a lot of talk across the industry about the growing challenges of finding the perfect candidate, or any candidate, for an available position.

If we are truly experiencing a talent shortage, then why not take a proactive approach to get in front of your audience?

YouTube is the #2 Search Engine Behind Google

Your candidates have questions and challenges. And, while having the answers to these questions on your blog are important, searches related to “how to” on YouTube are growing 70% year over year.

Average Human Attention Span is Less Than a Goldfish

Studies show the average attention span of a human being has dropped from 12 seconds in 2000 to 8 seconds in 2013. The shocking part of this statistic? This is one second less than the attention span of a goldfish.

While we have analytics from over 500 staffing websites proving that users are spending much longer than 8 seconds on a blog page, this point has value.

Consider condensing one of your blog posts into a quick bite-sized video content, 15-30 seconds at most. Publish that video on YouTube and then share it across your various personal and company related social media platforms.

Video Marketing Can Be Done (Professionally) on a Small Budget

Lighting Equipment. HD Camera. Professional Backdrop. Professional Spokesperson. This can add up…quickly. But, if you’re looking to get started with video marketing, the solution isn’t in your wallet, it’s on your smartphone.

64% of American adults now own a smartphone of some kind, up from 35% in the spring of 2011. (source)

Have a hot job you’re trying to fill in a hurry? How about a company announcement? Turn the lights on in your conference room and make a short personalized video of one your recruiters sharing this news. Upload it to YouTube and share it across personal and company social media channels.
