Is Your Blog Content Missing a Visual Element?

Share this:

So you’re blogging – that’s great! Blogging is the basis of a great content marketing strategy and opens the doors to many other opportunities. It aids in search engine optimization, serves as a resource for your audience, and provides great content to share on social media.

But – if you’re not adding images to your blog posts, it’s time to consider adding this element to your strategy. Think about it: When you read an article online, do you read articles with a picture? Does the picture help to break up the content? When you find an article on social media, are you more likely to click on an article that has a nice graphic with it? What did you notice first about this blog post? Was it the title, the description of the article, or the picture? I’m willing to bet it was the picture.

If “looking pretty” isn’t enough of a reason for you to want to add a visual element, consider this data:

  • Articles with images get 94% more total views. -Jeff Bullas
  • Engagement rate on Facebook for photos averages 0.37% where text only is 0.27% (this translates to a 37% higher level of engagement for photos over text.) -Jeff Bullas
  • 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed
  • 60,000X faster in the brain than text. -HubSpot
  • 40% of people will respond better to visual information than plain text. -HubSpot

A visual element in your blog post doesn’t just make it pretty – it makes it more likely to be clicked when shared on social media, it makes it more interesting for your audience, it helps to showcase your brand, and it helps to increase engagement on your content.

Including a graphic on your blog post opens doors for many opportunities, such as sharing your content on social platforms focused on imagery, like Pinterest, if appropriate for your audience. It will help your content stand out on social media. It makes each blog post more colorful, relatable, and intriguing to your audience.

Whether you choose to feature a stock image, or you choose to brand that image to your company, adding a visual element will help take your content to the next level.
