Make Social Media Part of Your Routine, Part II

Share this:

In Part I, we told you the benefits of making social media a part of your everyday work routine. Now you’re ready to learn how.

Dedicate the time. In today’s world, social media is 24/7. While certain times may be better for reaching your audience than others, the most important element is that you dedicate the time needed to be an active member of the social community.

We recommend setting aside time each day (if this sounds stressful, try 2-3 times a week to start. Once it’s second nature, “daily” won’t sound so intimidating.) Block off 15 minutes every day and put it in your calendar. Consider this a nonflexible work function, and dedicate this time to meet your social goals.

Become familiar with your resources. If the idea of being active on social media intimidates you because it’s unfamiliar territory, it’s time to stop making excuses. The best way to learn about social media is to jump right in. Find industry leaders and follow their example. If you keep it professional, you will be successful.

Haley Marketing Group offers a ton of resources to help you use social media effectively. Download our social sharing checklist for specific examples of social media activities you can perform or check out our social media blog posts.

Understand that it’s a requirement, not an option. Sharing on social media shouldn’t be something you do sometimes when you happen to think of it and don’t feel like tackling the things on your to-do list. It should be a part of that to-do list.

Trusted resources aren’t flakey – they’re consistent. Sharing engaging content regularly will help you become an active member of the social community, and allow people to start recognizing you and your company – and even building trust.

Be accountable. Still not sure you can trust yourself to stick to it? Partner with someone on your team to hold you accountable for your social sharing. Engage with one another’s posts online to help boost engagement, and to keep you accountable.
