Brad Bialy’s Hidden Talent

Share this:

By day, we’re marketing geeks. Computer nerds. Quirky writers and artists. And damn proud of it!

But after hours, our team members shed their marketing capes – and pursue all kinds of cool Hobbies, Interests and Talents (we call them HITs for short).

Here’s a hidden talent of Brad Bialy, a Haley Marketing Social Media Marketing Advisor:

HIT: Professional Musician

Back Story

I’m a guitarist who has played countless shows and gigs in venues across the Western New York area. I’ve also written, produced and recorded original songs and albums.

When a buddy of mine started playing guitar during our freshman year of high school, I wanted to do the same. So, picked up a guitar that my dad owned and started strumming. Except for 1 month of lessons (which I took a few years after I started), I’m completely self-taught. Nowadays, technology keeps us connected at our fingertips, the internet has made the world seem a whole lot smaller, more appealing to learn guitar and travel with it. When I first started learning the instrument, I got a travel guitar which I saw a review on MusicCritic. Everyone has their own story of how they started and what I can tell you is it doesn’t matter if it was out as curiosity, what’s important is how we persevered to see it through.

What do I love most about playing?

Honestly, I love everything about music – from creating and writing to just listening to a great CD. Being somewhat obsessed with music in general, playing is a great way to be a part of something that I love.

Becoming a professional musician has definitely taught me patience and the importance of always giving 100%. Whether I’m playing a show for 1 person or 100, I try to make the performance the best that I could possibly put together.

It has also helped me significantly with my public speaking and comfort level when presenting. Being in front of people used to be a fairly overwhelming experience for me. The more I started playing and performing, however, the more comfortable I became with myself and my presenting skills.

I’d like to think there’s someone somewhere that really likes one of my original songs!

If not…I can live with that too!

And if one of my gigs at a local bar helps just one person relax and forget about their stress, then that’s a huge win for me.

Music really does bring people together…

Last year, I started playing at a weekly Open Mic in Hamburg, NY just to get out and try new songs and new styles. Performing at the Open Mic was great, but more importantly, it led me to meeting and collaborating with some amazing musicians whom I’m lucky to now call friends.
