Are Your Clients Still YOUR Clients?

Share this:

Business ethics generally dictate that once you have done business with someone in the past – placed a candidate, filled a temporary position, helped offload payrolling duties – they are, and always will be, your client. And they’re happy to receive emails, calls and information from your staffing business in the future.

However, Canada’s Anti-Spam Law (CASL) has changed the game dramatically when it comes to people you used to do business with. Their new policy states that after two years, it’s no longer safe to assume a client is still your client, if you’re not actively providing services to them.

While it’s not a law that hugely impacts firms outside the great white north, it is a policy to take note of.

What can we learn from this, and how can we apply it to digital marketing for staffing agencies?

1. Retain Your Clients.

Sometimes the simplest concepts are the most difficult to implement. Keeping your clients seems like a no-brainer, but with constant competition in your space, it’s hard to maintain every single business owner and candidate you’ve worked with. Being proactive and staying top-of-mind is the best way to set yourself apart from the competition and stay in business.

2. Engage Consistently.

Do your clients know about the latest goings-on at your company? Did they hear about the incredible new candidate you just met who would be a perfect fit at their company? How about some fun new Memorial Day recipes, or a quick message to wish them a happy first day of summer? If you’re not taking the time to reach out and engage with your clients, guess who has time to sneak in and grab their attention: your competition!

3. Don’t Give Competitors an Inch.

The very minute you decide to be lax in your marketing and outreach, you gamble with your business relationships and ultimately your bottom line. Make sure your clients and candidates would never entertain the idea of using a different staffing or recruiting firm by building a consistent, strong and ongoing business relationship – one that won’t go stale after two years.

If you want to keep your clients, let the staffing marketing experts at Haley Marketing Group help you differentiate your services to stand out, stay top-of-mind and be the best in the world at what you do!
