Buzz Words and Marketing Strategy

Kaizen. If you’ve been following marketing blogs these past few months, you’ve heard the term.

For those of you who haven’t yet, here’s a quick summary from the Wikipedia article:

Kaizen (改善), is the Japanese word for ‘continual improvement’.”

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaizen

What does this mean for your company? For a lot of you, you’re already engaging in the concept. Most business owners are looking to increase profits, total leads, candidates placed and clients serviced year-over-year.

But how about your marketing strategy? How many are still using the same website, sell sheet, brochure or email template that was created two years ago? Three years ago? It’s time to embrace Kaizen within your marketing strategy and start implementing continual improvements. This does not mean kicking off a brand-new multimillion-dollar campaign. This could be as simple as updating the content on your sell sheet or website! Once the little (and hopefully easier) tasks are handled, start looking towards other marketing strategy avenues such as: PPC, Talent Showcase, new website, white papers or a social media marketing campaign!

There are two important notes to remember:

  1. Advance marketing strategies at a steady pace. It’s easy to get overloaded with a lot of great ideas! Make sure to implement them with an appropriately paced strategy that does not stretch your organization’s resources too thin, otherwise nothing may be accomplished.
  2. Continue to develop marketing strategies. There is no magic medicine to cure all of your marketing woes. Develop a strategy for initial implementation for marketing, as well as continued marketing strategy. Continuing could be new idea or technology, and does not need to be (or could be!) outlined at the start of a new marketing strategy.

Take a moment and find out what current marketing strategies are being used within your organization, and look at the last time they’ve been updated, improved or added onto. If it hasn’t been recent, try to allocate more resources into improving them.
