Using Facebook Video to Attract New Job Candidates

Share this:

One of the newest and most effective ways to reach job candidates on Facebook is through video. Not only can you use videos to advertise jobs, you can also share tips on topics such as resume writing and preparing for a job interview. Before you get started, it’s important to know a few best practices for getting the most out of your video marketing efforts.

Video Length

Research has shown that after two minutes, viewer engagement begins to decrease. When planning out your video and writing a script, make sure it doesn’t exceed 120 seconds. When talking about a job opening, be sure to talk about the most important aspects including job title, pay, qualifications, main responsibilities and location. You’ll want to make sure you grab the viewers attention within the first five seconds of the video so they continue to watch.

Use Native Facebook Videos

When posting a video, be sure to upload it directly to Facebook as opposed to sharing a link from a third-party website, such as YouTube. Videos uploaded directly to Facebook typically receive twice as many views and three times as many shares than those shared from other sites. To upload a video to Facebook, click on Photo/Video at the top of your timeline, and choose the video file you’d like to upload. After posting the video, you can click on edit to change the title or the image of the video that will appear in the post.

Include Subtitles

Because videos automatically play while muted, the majority of Facebook videos are watched in their entirety with the sound off. For this reason, it’s important to add text to your videos to make sure your message is getting through effectively. You don’t need to have text for everything you say, just make sure you’re highlighting the most important parts of the video.

Call to Action

At the end of your video, it’s important to include a call to action to let viewers know what to do next. If you’re advertising a job opening, make sure to mention where people can go to on your website to apply. You can also put a link directly to the job in the text of the post. If you think the link is too long, you can shorten it by going to bit.ly.

With a large amount of people searching for jobs on Facebook, video is a great way to grab their attention and let them know about your available positions. You can also share valuable tips with job seekers and let them know how you can help with their job search.
