How to Love Your Job, Again

Share this:

Lets be honest. After almost 10 years with the same company, things can often get redundant and boring. Yet you still enjoy going to work every day because it’s a great company culture and the people you work with are fantastic. So how do you up your game and drive to find satisfaction and joy in your job?

Here are some ways to add some spark:

  1. Talk to your Boss(es) – They can give you some leeway to venture into new territories in your career path and research other options that may be possible for you to champion while still maintaining your daily responsibilities.
  2. Brainstorm – While gossip at the water cooler can give you a 5-minute break from your routine, use that time instead to get ideas from your co-workers on how they manage to stay fresh in their jobs and the newest conversations they are having with their clients
  3. Set Goals – Realign yourself and set new goals. Each week write down a goal you want to accomplish this week, this month, by the end of the quarter and end of the year. Do this every week and you will be smashing these goals in no time. Writing them down and having them visible makes you more apt to follow through and achieve them.
  4. Volunteer – We are lucky enough to have volunteer hours available to use during the work-day. Giving back to your community, instead of a day in the office, inspires you to regroup and refocus yourself and participate in helping others. Encourage a team member to join you! You will have fun and build on your relationships in and out of the office.
  5. Read – Get a new perspective on life, work and the balance to get your mojo back. Reading can transfer your mind and your mood back to a positive place where you feel productive, accomplished and satisfied in your job.

There are many other ways to help find the glow that was present the first few years in your job. The most important thing to do is find what works for you and talk to others to help gain new perspective. You never know what new endeavors and opportunities are waiting for you in the same place you have been sitting.
