Fast, Simple Tactics for Improving Your Staffing Agency’s SEO

Share this:

So you know you have to optimize your site for the search engines, but you have no idea where to even start. Although SEO is a long-term strategy, there are some things you can do on your own today that will put you on the right track for improving your site’s rankings.

Start With These Five Tactics to Improve Your Staffing Agency’s SEO Rankings:

Keyword Research

First thing’s first. When looking to optimize your website, you need to know what your goals are. While doing keyword research, you need to think of your user’s intent and what they would be searching for. As you add content, you will naturally start to rank for keywords with the content on your site, but you want to focus your efforts on a smaller set that includes your industry and the services you offer. Sites like Google Search Console, SEMRush and Ahrefs can provide valuable data on queries and keywords that you should take into consideration.

Meta Data

Adding meta data to a page is one of the fastest things you can do to a site for optimization. It is made up of two parts: title tags, the blue link you see in your Google results, and the meta description, the sentence below it. Your title tag should include the keyword your page focuses on early in the tag and your business name. Your meta description is a short sentence or two that should tell the reader what the page is about and convince them to click through to the page. Although meta descriptions aren’t a ranking factor like title tags, if the keywords in the query match the keywords in the meta description, they will appear bolded in the meta description.

Content

Google wants you to write for the reader, not for search engines. This means when you are adding content, structure your content with headings so that it is easy to read and goes from the broadest topics down to more specific content. Stick to one topic per page and add high-quality and informative content that will give the reader what they are looking for by sticking to one keyword and it’s variations. Avoid adding too many or unrelated keywords to a page as this will not only dilute the information, but you will be penalized for “keyword stuffing.”

SSL Certification

SSL-certified sites will have “https” displayed in front of the web address. Although not having a secure site doesn’t hurt you in rankings right now, having it will give you a small rankings boost. Without the SSL certification, it will warn users that the site is not secure, and they will not be able to download anything from the site, so it is best to just have it.

Mobile-First Indexing

Making sure your website has mobile-friendly content is extremely important in 2020. Google announced that they are now rolling out mobile-first indexing, meaning that they will be looking at the page’s mobile content while ranking on their search engine. The best thing you can do for this is to make sure your website is responsive and transition to a mobile-friendly design.
