By day, we’re marketing geeksComputer nerdsQuirky writers and artists. And damn proud of it!

But after hours, our team members shed their marketing capes – and pursue all kinds of cool Hobbies, Interests and Talents (we call them HITs for short).

Here’s what Digital Marketing Advisor Kristen Wakulchuk is into:

HIT: Dance

Back Story

My parents enrolled me in dance classes when I was 2 years old. In the 21 years since then, I’ve learned several styles, including Broadway, tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, and hip hop.

I danced competitively throughout high school and continued in shows through college, where I double majored in dance until my junior year. These days I take classes to keep my skills sharp and teach when I can!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Dancing has physical, emotional, and mental benefits. Not only is it a way to build strength and endurance, but it’s also a wonderful method for expressing creativity and inspiring confidence

I’ve met so many people through dance and have always felt like I’m part of a team.

What’s your favorite story about your HIT?

My friend and I performed as backup dancers for Weird Al while we were in college. One of the employees at CMAC (an outdoor amphitheater here in New York) was looking for backup dancers, and my instructor at the time mentioned we were going to school to be professional dancers. Talk about being at the right place at the right time!

However, we didn’t even practice before the show – they sent us an instructional video, told us where to be when, and provided costumes when we got there. Either way, dancing on a massive stage with bright lights and live music was such a fun experience!
