People don’t buy what you do, they buy WHY you do it.
Want to differentiate your staffing firm? Stop thinking about how to make your services better. Forget improving candidate quality. Instead focus on new ways to think about WHY?
- Why do you do what you do?
- What vision inspires your people?
- What mission drives value for your clients?
People are compelled to purchase products and services from companies they admire. Companies they identify with. Think about Apple. Are they the best manufacturer of MP3 players? Or tablet computers? They weren’t the first in either category. They don’t offer a product that is dramatically different than the competition. But they do have a different mission. A mission to change how the world works. To redefine cool. And it’s their WHY factor that drives people to purchase Apple products.
So what’s your WHY factor?

I’d love to take credit for the idea behind this blog post, but I’m just paraphrasing a phenomenal TED Talk from Simon Sinek. It’s titled “How Great Leaders Inspire Action.”
