What Can Email Marketing Do During a Pandemic?

Share this:

We’re in uncharted territory, yes. I did not have a plan for pandemic-response marketing materials when I rang in the new year. However, as times change, so must our approach to strategic marketing. And now, more than ever, email is a great tool to quickly (and affordably!) stay in front of your clients, candidates, and those who might be blurring the line between both.

So, how can you use email in response to the COVID-19 pandemic?

Emails to Clients:

  • Check in! Ask how they are. Offer your assistance however you can.
  • Let them know your doors are open.
  • Skill market your currently available talent.
  • Offer to help anyone affected by layoffs find new work (whether it’s their employees or your contacts themselves!)
  • Alert them to changes in business hours or policies.
  • Share links to local COVID-19 resources and pass along important updates.
  • Compile a list of your most frequently asked COVID-19 questions, and share the answers.

Emails to Candidates:

  • Check in with candidates, too. They may be having a hard time personally and professionally right now. And if you aren’t reaching out, you can bet your competition is.
  • Let them know your doors are open.
  • Share open positions you are trying to fill, and make it easy to apply from a phone.
  • Offer training/courses to help them skill up in their downtime and find their next job quickly.
  • Alert them to changes in business hours or policies.
  • Share COVID-19 best practices like handwashing, social distancing, and proper facemask use.
  • Compile a list of your most frequently asked COVID-19 questions, and share the answers.

Not only can email marketing help you stand out and stay top of mind under any circumstance, it can also be a thoughtful way to stay connected to those who count on you and your business.
