A few weeks back I posted a high level overview about how staffing and recruiting firms can leverage blogs as cost effective marketing tools in a down economy.  In this post, I want to share a more specific, tactical way to use blogs:

Driving More Traffic to Your Trade Show and Career Fair Booths

Attending trade shows and career fairs can be a costly expense.  In order to get the most return on this investment, you should consider investing a bit more in pre- and post-show marketing.  In addition to traditional marketing activities like direct mail to attendees, blog posts can be an excellent way to increase awareness.

Here are two examples:

1. HLT Enterprises – This organization has a division that recruits for the Convenience Retailing Industry.  They will be attending one of the Industry’s biggest trade shows and announced it on their blog. Now, when someone searches on Google for “2009 Convenience Retailing”, their website appears on the first page of results along with the webpage for the actual convention.

2. Haley Marketing Group – On this blog, we recently added a post about Staffing World 2009. Now when anyone searches for information on “Staffing World 2009” they find ASA’s Staffing World information, as well as the Haley Marketing blog post and website.

In both examples, the intent was not to rank higher on search engines, but rather to provide relevant and timely information.  However, both posts have helped to increase awareness with professionals interested in attending these events–and will hopefully drive more traffic and increase ROI for these conferences.

If you would like to discuss more tactical ways to leverage your company blog please feel free to contact me at 888-696-2900 or [email protected].
