If you’ve been to Staffing World before, you’ve probably run into Brad Smith, Director of SEO and Social Media at Haley Marketing Group. Brad will be in attendance again this year – his eleventh time – and he’s looking forward to meeting as many fellow attendees as possible, sharing his expertise and learning from others.
Get to Know Brad
At the conference, Brad expects people to “still be talking about the candidate shortage and how that is impacting the staffing industry overall. But I think another topic that some of the progressive clients will be talking about is how they are starting to invest a bit more in lead generation marketing efforts and starting to prepare for a recession, and a shift in the employment market.”
If you have questions about attracting more candidates or preparing for a potential recession, Brad is a great person to seek out in Vegas. “I’m looking forward to sharing more lessons about what’s working for other companies in the industry,” he said. “In my position, I have the chance to consult on strategy for hundreds of different staffing companies — from generalists to specialists, small to large. So, I can hopefully offer a unique perspective and insight on what we are seeing across the industry. I have a specific focus on the digital side of things – social media, SEO, recruitment marketing, online branding and more.”
As a seasoned veteran, Brad offers this advice to first-timers, “Plan out which events and sessions you want to see ahead of time and get there early to get a seat. Sometimes the session rooms can fill up fast and you might be stuck standing in the back. Make sure to take notes and talk to the people around you at sessions. Sometimes those casual conversations are the most enlightening.”
We asked Brad what his favorite memory is from Staffing Worlds’ past: “There are so many, but if I had to pick one, I think it would be from Staffing World in San Diego,” he said. “The big gala event was held on the USS Midway aircraft carrier. We had a great dinner with a band playing on the deck. Then after dinner, we headed below where David Searns and I had the chance to go in a flight simulator and his business cards fell out of his pocket as we were flying upside down in a dog fight. The simulator turned into a ‘snow globe’ with business cards all over the place! We were then treated to an intimate concert from the Barenaked Ladies right inside the aircraft carrier. It was a great event!”

I’m really looking forward to our session in which we will share some key things smart marketers are doing to attract both clients and candidates. We will also bring on two of our most progressive–and successful–clients who are implementing many of these strategies and seeing great results.”
