Social Media User Statistics

Share this:

A study released by the Pew Research Center detailed some interesting statistics on social media users and on how social networking affects our lives.  Here are a few of the highlights that are very relevant to the staffing and recruiting industry:

Your target audience makes up the majority of social media users.

Think about the average age of your candidates.  Then think about the average age of the decision makers you’re trying to reach on a daily basis.  The graph above shows your target demographic makes up the majority of social media users (social media isn’t just for high school and college kids!).  If you don’t have a strong presence on social media, you’re missing out on a great opportunity.

Your target audience spends a LOT of time on social media each week.

Nearly 1 out of every 3 people visits Facebook several times a day!  84% of Facebook users check in at least 1-2 days every single week.

The majority of social media users are college educated.

A whopping 75% of LinkedIn users have a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree.  Nearly 70% of Facebook users have some trade or college education.

The conclusion – staffing and recruiting firms need a social media presence.

Social media usage among your key target audience is growing – quickly.  You need to embrace this new way to reach your candidates and clients and integrate social media into a strategic marketing and sales strategy.
