Hiring managers are worried about the talent shortage. How to deal with it

Share this:

The talent shortage in the staffing industry has been looming for some time now. The recession of 2008, some seven years ago now, created a market in which staffing companies were spoiled for choice. Fast-forward to the present and staffing companies are struggling to fill open positions with qualified candidates. In fact, nearly half of respondents to the Glassdoor Recruiting Outlook Survey cited that as their top challenge.

Finding top talent is certainly getting more difficult and as a result, staffing firms have to use more creative approaches to find solid candidates. “Passive Candidate Sourcing,” as Glassdoor puts it, isn’t working.

  • 51 percent indicate candidates have grown wary of emails from networking sites and respond at a much lower rate
  • 47 percent indicate candidates respond to recruiter emails at a much lower rate
  • 44 percent indicate candidates respond to recruiter phone calls at much lower rate
